Family Weekend and such

This weekend was family weekend at college. Parents are invited to come spend the weekend here and see what the college is like. They eat in the dining hall (which served good-ish food for a change), hear Prez A talk, take a trolley tour, see the dorms, and get to catch up with their kids.

My parentals got here Friday when I was still in class taking a test (which I got a 98 on). So they checked into their B&B and waited for me to be done. Once I got out they came over, showed me their place, and we went to eat at a Columbian restaurant (not as good as I remembered). After eating we went to WallyWorld for a few quick things and then went to watch Where The Wild Things Are. It was definitely... different to say the least. I didn't really remember the book at the time so I don't have much else to say about that.

Saturday morn, me and Cal (who's parents were also staying at the B&B) walked over to get breakfast. It was AMAZING! After that we went over to the auditorium to listen to the President give his speech and here the choir sing. It reminded me of how much I miss music.... After the speech Mom and I walked around while Dad watched the FSU game. I got a super cute purse! (Thanks Mom and Mrs F) Mom and I also went on a trolley tour of the town, which I think she really enjoyed. Then Dad went to watch the UF/UGA game and Mom and I drove over to the outlets. I "made out like a bandit" as Mom says. Lots of cute clothes for NYC. After the game, we went to a Greek restaurant and walked around Downtown.

Sunday was a peculiar day. I woke up, got ready, and ate breakfast at the B&B. Then Dad, Mom, and I drove out to see the beach. On the way back we stopped by Publix to pick up some food I wanted for my dorm. Then they decided to take me home for a few hours and have J&J take me back to school with them. I was really upset when I had to go/ had to think about going. But I think (keyword "think") I'm okay now.

When I got back I studied with my friend Staten. We did more talking than we did studying, but I think that's okay. I think she really helped me realize I'm not alone here and I can find friends. We talked about the kinds of people here and how we're nothing like them. We don't party al the time nor are we major dorks. We're the inbetweeners. More mature than most, which is what is getting the both of us stuck when trying to find new friends. Talking with Staten made me feel a lot better and more confident that I will find friends. After studying she invited me to get coffee and then go back to her room and hang out with her and her suitemates. I had a great night in spite of my crappy day. And tomorrow, I'm actually going to eat lunch with her and her suitemates!! I have real friends. And the fact that that amazes me, is a little sad. But oh well, I take what I can nowadays.
