Trophies, Calathes, and Tebow

Yesterday my dad took Zach, Landon, and I to Gainesville. The first thing we did upon arriving in town was go to the Alltel plaza and take pictures with the National Championship trophy. It was really awesome to see in person. After that, we went up to the school to go to the Basketball game. We ran into Jami Parrish running down the street, said hello, and then headed over to the O'Connell Center. The tickets my dad got were literally the highest seats they had. UGH! But luckily, the THS boys team was at the game and had seats much closer to the court, so we snuck past the lady checking tickets and sat a couple rows above Bainbridge and the guys. UF hit three after three, but couldn't seem to battle the Rebels future than the three-point line. Fouls were abundant, as were time outs, which I learned are rather common in a televised college game. They actually call time-outs for commercial breaks. I found that interesting. After a nail-biting second half, the Gators beat the Rebel by ten.

Kyle Gilreath, the manager of the Gators and former Terrier starter, got the boys team into the locker room after the game. Landon tagged along and got to meet Calathes and Tyus, and a few other players. He loved it. Since the players were sitting around in towels, I couldn't go in, so Zach and I walked out and checked out the College of Engineering. Even though I hate science, and most advanced math, I still have to admit that the school was cool. Much neater than I expected. After Kyle finished the tour, we went to Moe's for dinner, and headed home.

Today I watched the Championship Celebration at Ben Griffen. Tebow gave a speech, thanking everyone for their support, and headed off stage. With one hand on the steps, and the microphone in the other, he swirled around and walked back onto the stage. "By the way, one more thing, let's do it again, I'm coming back." The crowd went absolutely wild and I almost fell off the couch. I'm definitely beyond happy, and find myself regretting not applying to UF. Now that I go to campus about once a month, I realize that it's not as big or scary as I imagined and the students are definitely a lot closer than I expected. But I made my decision, and signed a bonding contract, so to speak, so I'm stuck. I just need to keep reminding myself that Flagler is the best place for Deaf Education, and that I will get to see my family a lot more than I would at UF. Plus, I already have a job ready for me... once the baby I will be sitting is born. It will be for the better.
